Christy Michaud: My Cecil Story

"Inspired by an economic downturn and a job loss, my decision to come to Cecil has opened the door to a new career path. I have been a gardener all my life, but in order to consider myself a professional, I needed to be more knowledgeable in the field. I have earned my certificate in horticulture science and am now going for the associate degree.

I graduated from high school in 1970 as a member of the National Honor Society. Forty years later, I turned in a repeat performance by being inducted into the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. Cecil has given me the right tools for success and the confidence to know I can conquer another career swing.

My granddaughter said to me, ‘Grammy aren’t you too old to go to school?’ I said, ‘No, evidently not.’ I don’t think you are ever too old to go to school because I don’t ever want to stop learning. The education process is continuous because the journey is forever changing."
