Establish a Scholarship

The Cecil College Foundation is seeking contributions for Cecil College student scholarships.

Types of Scholarships

Donors can establish a personalized endowed scholarship to be held in perpetuity, or create a temporarily restricted scholarship to be used within an academic year. The donor determines if the award is need or merit-based, is for a particular major or program area, and other directives.

To create or donate to a scholarship, contact the Foundation at (410) 287-1146.

Endowed Scholarship

When an individual or organization establishes an endowed scholarship, the gift is set aside as principal to be invested in perpetuity. The income and earnings from the principal are distributed as scholarship awards. Endowed scholarships are established with a minimum of $10,000.00. If an endowed scholarship is established with less then $10,000.00, it will be considered an emerging endowment. All interest will go into the principal until the $10,000.00 level is attained, at which time it will become an endowed scholarship.

Temporarily Restricted Scholarships

Temporarily restricted scholarships are established as short-term or recurring annual gifts based on the donor's preference. The entire gift is awarded to students within one academic year.

Donate to Existing Scholarships

Donors can also make a gift to an existing endowed or temporarily restricted scholarship or to the Textbook Scholarship Fund, which provides books for students in need.
