Whether transferring coursework to Cecil College or transferring your completed degree or certificate to a four year institution, transfer is a viable option to help meet your educational goals.

Academic Advising

Academic advising is available to help you make the right decisions when it comes to preparing for transfer. We recommend that you meet with an academic advisor early in your career at Cecil College to take advantage of the many resources available. Getting started with the process early will also insure you don’t waste any of your valuable time, money or credits.

Students who have taken a high school course that is already approved for college credit through an articulation agreement have a jump start on their college career at Cecil College. Please see your high school guidance counselor for additional information.

Dual Enrollment

Several schools in the region offer Cecil College courses on site for the high school student who wants to get an early start on their college education. These courses articulate with Cecil College degree and certificate programs.

Course Transfer

Students are encouraged to transfer previous coursework from another institution to Cecil College to meet degree or certificate requirements. This can also include other forms of learning, addressed as Evaluation of Prior Learning in the Cecil College catalog. Please see your college advisor for more information.

Four-year Partners

Cecil College has entered into over 800 transfer agreements with institutions throughout the state and 150 articulation agreements with institutions in border states. The College also has agreements with 45 different public and private institutions in Maryland and surrounding states.

Articulation agreements provide course equivalency agreements and/or program to program transfer agreements, which minimize the risk of losing college credits when transferring to another institution. Some educational programs also have scholarships or other incentives related to transfer to a four-year institution.

See your advisor for specifics for your area of study.

Dual Enrollment in a Four-year Institution

Students enrolled in the nursing program at Cecil College, and who are currently taking nursing courses, have the unique opportunity to start work on their Bachelor’s degree while completing their associate’s degree. University of Maryland, Towson University and Frostburg University all provide this accelerated BSN degree option for qualified Cecil College nursing students.

Reverse Transfer

Reverse transfer allows students to earn an associate’s degree while also working on a bachelor’s degree or another associate’s degree. Students who have previously attended Cecil College, and who are working on a bachelor’s degree or associate’s degree, may be eligible to transfer courses back to Cecil College to earn a degree. The courses completed may count toward the completion of the degrees at both institutions. Students may meet with an Academic Advisor regarding course selection.

To be eligible for reverse transfer to earn an associate’s degree, students must have a minimum grade point average of 2.0 or higher and have successfully completed a minimum of 15 credits at Cecil College.
