The Covered Bridge Theatre Company

Live theater brought to you by The Covered Bridge Theatre Company, in residence at the state-of-the-art Milburn Stone Memorial Theatre.

The Covered Bridge Theatre Company, was formed in 1980. The motivating force for the formation of the CBT Company came from Cecil College faculty member, Bill Charlton. George Bell (faculty) and Kate Grace (long time CBT actor), also assisted in forming and naming CBT.

The Company’s first space was a lecture hall in the Arts and Sciences building on the College’s North East campus. A few years later, conditions improved as the troupe moved to what is currently the Continuing Education building on Railroad Avenue in Elkton. The Company came back to the North East campus in 1991 to CCC’s new Cultural Center. The theatre space is named after the late actor, Milburn Stone, who starred as “Doc Adams” in the long running TV Western Gun Smoke. His wife and daughter have been long time benefactors of the theatre.

CBT has performed a variety of plays including Our Town, You Can’t Take It With You, The Fantasticks, The Sound of Music, Nunsense, Hello, Dolly!, A Christmas Carol, West Side Story, Annie, Grease, Gypsy, A Wish for Christmas (original production), and Moon Over Buffalo among several others.

CBT performs three productions each season and is always interested in adding new members to their Company either in an acting or volunteering capacity. To learn more about CBT contact Cheryl Kraus 410-287-1023 or email ckraus@cecil.edu
