Women's Tennis Player Qualifies for Nationals

Maria Andrade won her second consecutive women's tennis singles title at the Region XX Championships at Hagerstown Community College on October 26 with a 6-1, 6-0 victory at the No. 1 position. Andrade, who was undefeated in the regular season and was selected 1st Team All-Region for the second consecutive season. Maria will go on to compete at the NJCAA Division I Tournament in Tucson, Ariz. in May. The Seahawks finished third at the region tournament and were 3-6 this year.

Women's Tennis Heads to Region XX Tournament
The Cecil Women's Tennis Team will conclude the 2008 fall season with the Region XX Tournament scheduled for October 24-25 at Hagerstown Community College. Play will begin on Friday, October 24 at 2:00 p.m. and on Saturday, October 25 at 9:00 a.m. 1st singles player, Maria Andrade who enters the tournament as the number one seed, is looking to repeat her two region championships from 2007 and gain another berth to the NJCAA Division I National Tournament in Tucon, Arizona May 3-9, 2009.

Maria Andrade Wraps Up Undefeated Season

1st singles player Maria Andrade wrapped up an undefeated regular season play in dual matches with a win over Shadia Otto from Montgomery Rockville College on Tuesday, October 21. Maria will enter the Region XX Tournament as the #1 seed. As a freshmen in 2007, Andrade was the Region XX Tournament Champion at 2nd Singles and 1st Doubles, NJCAA Division I National Tournament Qualifier, 2nd singles MD juco regular season champion, 1st team All-Conference, 1st Team All-Region, Undefeated regular season at 2nd Singles, 1st Doubles Harford NIT Champion and Team MVP.
Women's Tennis Welcomes Back Rebecca Reynolds

Rebecca Reynolds, former Cecil College Women's Tennis player (2006 - 2008), has been hired as the Assistant Coach for the 2008 - 2009 season. Rebecca experienced many successes her sophomore season at the 6th singles position as she earned the Region XX Tournament Title, a berth to the NJCAA Division I National Tournament, Harford NIT Tournament Title, undefeated regular season play, 1st Team All-Conference, 1st Team All-Region, and the Team's MIP Award. Coach Krummel is excited to have Rebecca back with Cecil Tennis in the coaching capacity and feels her experience and tennis knowledge will be beneficial to the team's success this season. Rachel Jackson Signs with Cecil Women's Tennis

Rachel Jackson has signed a National Letter of Intent to play women's tennis at Cecil College. Jackson, a 2008 graduate of Rising Sun High School, played No. 2 doubles in her senior year with the Tigers. She plans to pursue an associate degree in general studies at Cecil and will be counted on to contribute at both singles and doubles in the fall. "Rachel is a natural athlete and a determined hard worker, so I expect she will improve her skills and experience success in her first season at Cecil," said Cecil coach Sherri Krummel.
