Information Sessions for the following programs:
Professional Truck Driver Training
Professional truck drivers continue to play a critical role in the economy as transportation and material moving workers are involved in moving virtually everything we buy or touch. In addition to traditional trucking companies, today, Cecil County looks to help support the ever-expanding need for the workforce at Aberdeen Proving Ground as they help our military stay ready for the challenges ahead. It should be noted that nationally, employment of these workers should increase by about 462,000 new jobs by 2016.
Health Care Careers
Combining medical technology and the human touch, health care workers provide and administer patient care around the clock to millions of people, from infants to the elderly. For instance, medical assistant, dental assistant, medical coder and biller, medical transcriptionist, and medical receptionist are just a few of the health care careers out there. They work in a variety of settings from doctors’ offices and hospitals, to home care, to outpatient centers, to nursing homes, and more. You’ll be in demand because Maryland and many other states face a major shortage of numerous types of skilled health care workers.

Usually, they work in ever-changing locations and work environments. They may handle tasks such as building houses, plumbing, ground maintenance, and building and equipment repairs. In a landscaping career, you would handle construction of patios, decks and sidewalks, as well as light and water enhancements and landscaping design and evaluation. Whatever your role in the industry is, every team member is as important as the next. So, whether your talent is working with your head or your hands, you can be sure there is a career in construction or landscaping trades for you.
Accounting and Bookkeeping Technician
Just about every corporate business and non-profit organization has entry positions in accounts receivable, accounts payable, and payroll units. The Accounting and Bookkeeping certificate prepares students for positions with skills in preparing payroll documents, double entry bookkeeping, journal and ledger practice, and reconciling banking statements. This is an approved WIA Occupational Training program.
Auto Tech
Learn from a working professional why a good auto tech is first and foremost, a problem solver. Today, the automotive service technician faces many more challenges than the mechanics of the past. What used to be a matter of just using tools now includes the world of technology. Today’s cars are complex machines run by sophisticated computer systems. And the people who fix those cars are highly paid automotive technicians, not car mechanics. The tech indentifies, as fast as they can, the causes of breakdown and then makes the repairs using the best solution.
