Academic Tutoring

Academic Tutoring

For assistance in math, reading, or writing, in addition to the instruction provided in the developmental programs, students are referred to one of the following skill centers:

Math Lab

Located in Room 410 of the Arts and Sciences Building, the Math Lab provides free tutoring for students experiencing difficulties in mathematics. For more information, please call 410-287-1015.

Reading Lab

Located in Room 342 of the Arts and Sciences Building, the Reading Lab provides free short-term professional consultation and directed instruction for students wishing to improve their learning skills. Skill development is available for time management, listening and note-taking, concentration and memory building, test-taking, text reading, vocabulary development and other skill areas. Writing Lab

Located in Room 342 of the Arts and Sciences Building, the Writing Lab seeks to help native-speaking and second-language student improve all aspects of written communications - grammar, mechanics, style, organization, and tone - in both humanities and science classes. The Lab can help students with non-course writing as well: articles for the Seahawk, resumes, business letters, and applications. Students are encouraged to make the College Writing Center part of their writing process. For more information, please call 410-287-6060, extension 421.

Peer tutoring in many subjects is available by scheduled appointments.

Students interested in becoming peer tutors should contact the Coordinator of Skills Assessment and Tutoring at 410-287-1015.
