Program Description

The Physical Therapist Assistant program provides a foundation for graduates to become highly skilled in providing patient services using physical therapy techniques under the supervision and direction of a licensed physical therapist in clinics, hospitals, and many other health care settings. Upon completion of the curriculum, the graduate will receive the A.A.S. and will be eligible to take the National Licensing Exam for Physical Therapist Assistants.

Program Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this program, students will meet the General Education Student Learning Outcomes and be able to: 

·         Implement the concepts of anatomy and physiology of the human body in developing a treatment plan for a given patient scenario.

·         Use critical thinking/clinical reasoning to apply the best action to a specific patient presentation and/or disease process.

·         Use critical thinking/clinical reasoning to choose and/or execute the best intervention for a given patient scenario.

·         Demonstrate professional and ethical behaviors required of a healthcare professional.

·         Demonstrate competence in performing the clinical skills included in the Minimum Required Skills of Physical Therapist Assistant Graduates at Entry-Level.
