Program Description

If you have completed the Maryland Fire and Rescue Institute (MFRI) occupational coursework or have the required certifications, but no degree and are looking to take the next step in your career, then this is the career path for you. Students who have successfully completed this degree have progressed to supervisor roles, educators, or to bachelor’s degrees in emergency management or fire science.

This program will prepare individuals for entry-level employment as fire fighters as well as provide the degree credential necessary for promotion and advancement of professionals currently employed with the fire service.

What is this degree?

The Associate of Applied Science in Fire Science Technology is a degree that is designed for the student who currently has the required certification or has completed the occupational courses offered by Maryland Fire and Rescue. Through credential assessment and/or portfolio review at Cecil College, the student can acquire up to 32 credits toward this degree.
