With a very grateful heart, the Cecil College Board of Trustees proudly recognized Dr. Cydney Teal for her nearly 13 years of devoted service and unwavering commitment to the College and its mission.

Dr. Teal began her tenure as a trustee on July 1, 2012, and served faithfully until just a few weeks ago. Her thoughtful leadership and strategic insight left a lasting impression on the institution and all who had the privilege of working alongside her.

“I met Dr. Teal at Union Hospital. During my time there, I got to watch her move up the ranks as she took on responsibilities for quality of care and medical delivery in our community,” said Board Chair Raymond Hamm, Jr. “We had an opportunity to spend a lot of time together, talking about things that were sometimes tough and sometimes fun. I have great admiration for her. Then, I was delighted to come here and find her in service at Cecil College.”

Dr. Teal’s leadership journey included overseeing practice management responsibilities and serving as the Chief Medical Officer at Union Hospital. Her experience and steady guidance were invaluable on the Board, especially when navigating complex decisions that impact students and the future of the College.

“Cydney plays the long game,” Trustee Hamm added. “She’s always thinking about strategy and ensuring that decisions align with our values and have long-term benefits for students and the institution.”

A fierce champion for students, Dr. Teal has been a strong advocate for fairness, consistency, and doing what is right.

Reflecting on her years of service, Dr. Teal shared, “I was really touched when President Bolt and Trustee Hamm reached out to me to talk about a way in which to say thank you for the long years of service. I am very grateful and truly humbled to have sat at the table where some very hard decisions have been made—and some really awesome things happened as well. It has been a tremendous experience and one I will not forget.”

Cecil College extends its heartfelt thanks to Dr. Cydney Teal for her extraordinary dedication, vision, and service. “Her legacy of thoughtful leadership and advocacy will continue to inspire for years to come,” added Trustee Hamm.
