The transfer cohort achieved an average cumulative GPA of 3.49 at Cecil College, making it the highest community college average in the state and significantly outperforming the statewide average of 3.05. This marks Cecil College as a leading institution in preparing students for academic success beyond the associate degree level.
According to the report, Cecil College ranked No. 1 in Maryland for average cumulative GPA among community college transfer students (3.49) and No. 2 in Maryland for percentage of community college students earning a 2.0 GPA or higher post-transfer (96.4 percent). These rankings place Cecil College as an exemplary Maryland community college for students who plan to transfer.
The success of Cecil College students is based on the state’s analysis of transfer outcomes for those who earned at least 12 credits prior to transferring and were enrolled at a Maryland public four-year institution during Fall 2023 or Spring 2024. As Maryland continues to track community college transfer success in alignment with the 2025 completion goals, Cecil College remains a leader in fostering academic excellence and preparing students for long-term achievement.
