‘Mirror Recalls’ A Faculty Spotlight Exhibition

Published on July 30, 2025

ELKTON, MD: The Art and Design Program at Cecil College proudly announces, “Mirror Recalls,” a faculty spotlight exhibition featuring the works of contemporary artist and educator Mark Dilks. The exhibition will be on view from August 1 through September 24, 2025, at the Elkton Station Gallery, located at 107 Railroad Avenue.

An opening reception will be held on Friday, September 5 from 5 to 8 p.m., with an artist talk at 5:30 p.m.

In “Mirror Recalls,” Dilks investigates patterns, routines, and visual structures through a collage- and painting-based practice that bridges the tactile with the conceptual. The works arise from daily itineraries and moments of reflection, forming layered compositions that resemble both personal journals and abstract symmetries. “A funhouse mirror makes you look,” Dilks notes. “A little disorientation loosens the ground for new growth, the mind for new ideas.”

The exhibition highlights Dilks’s signature use of mixed materials—oil on denim, layered papers, and collected textures—while engaging with digital aesthetics and contemporary visual overload. As his practice blends introspection with outward momentum, “Mirror Recalls” invites viewers to pause, reflect, and reconsider the repetitive elements that shape our lives.

Join us for the “Mirror Recalls” by Mark Dilks on Friday, September 5, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. The Elkton Station Gallery is open for visitors Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.; Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
