NEWARK, Del. – Cecil College’s nursing program took part in the 2018 Dance Your Heart Out: Dancing Around the World held on Saturday, March 24, at the John H. Ammon Medical Education Center at Christiana Hospital in Newark.

This annual event combines health screenings and education along with lively dancing to raise awareness of cardiovascular health. Seven of Cecil College’s Nursing Honor Society Students were among the more than 200 volunteers, healthcare professionals, vendors, and community members who made this a success.

Cecil’s students participated by assisting with registration and performing blood pressure screenings. They also provided education on cardiovascular disease, stroke, and proper nutrition from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the day of the event. Individuals from the community received screenings for blood pressure, body mass index and body fat, diabetes and stroke while participating in a heart-healthy workout.

The participating students were Josh Adams of North East, Md.; Maria Del Costello of Port Deposit, Md.; Ashleigh Donithan of Elkton, Md.; Brianna Kirchner of Elkton, Md.; Ashley Miller of Elkton, Md.; Kelsey Reynolds of Perryville, Md.; and Hannah Shrewsbury of Warwick, Md.
