ELKTON, Md. – For more than a half-century, businesses like The Palette & The Page have been incredibly supportive of Cecil College’s students in the form of financial support, employment opportunities, internships, and apprenticeships.

Later this spring, The Palette & The Page will enhance its support by hosting the Fourth Annual Artful Tasting featuring three local wines and one local craft beer that will be paired with sample recipes from area restaurants. The money raised from this event will be applied to a scholarship fund at Cecil College.

“We feel having both wine and beer will give our visitors the option they prefer,” said Patti Paulus, owner of The Palette & The Page. “We are working toward endowing an art scholarship. We are nearing half of the $10,000.”

The Fourth Annual Artful Tasting will be Friday, May 17, from 6-8 p.m. at The Palette & The Page, located at 120 East Main Street in Elkton. There is no cost to attend this event, but a $20 donation will be applied to the scholarship fund.

Along with these annual events, many of the regional artists and entrepreneurs donate a portion of their profits to the scholarship. These include signature chocolates from North East Chocolates and signature soaps.

The Palette & The Page hosts other events affiliated with Cecil College. These include the English department’s annual creative writing awards and public reading. This April will be the eighth year the shop hosts the creative writing and poetry reading as part of National Poetry Month.

The Palette & The Page, which is proudly a female owned business, will be celebrating its tenth anniversary in the fall with another fundraising wine event.

“We feel the creation of a scholarship is our legacy to the community and with it being endowed, it will endure long into the future,” said Paulus, who is a member of the Cecil College Foundation Board. “I am very proud of what the board is doing for young people. They have touched so many lives in Cecil County.”

The specialty of The Palette & The Page is to support local artists and writers who are within a 60-mile radius of the community. To learn more about The Palette & The Page or this scholarship, call 410-398-3636.
