Students honored with departmental awards

NORTH EAST, Md. – Cecil College faculty honored graduating students who excelled in their studies in a particular field by selecting and presenting the 2025 Departmental Awards.
Department of Science and Technology in Biological / Environmental Sciences – Holly A. Adams
Holly A. Adams of Elkton, Md., has demonstrated exceptional mastery in biological and environmental sciences during her time at Cecil College, excelling in both conceptual understanding and laboratory work. She will continue her education at the University of Delaware to pursue a degree in biology, with aspirations of a career in entomology or soil science.
Department of Science and Technology in Cybersecurity – Jacob A. Carson
Jacob A. Carson of Port Deposit, Md., earned the Cybersecurity award for his dedication to secure systems and offensive security. Through independent learning and hands-on platforms like TryHackMe, Jacob has demonstrated a deep commitment to cybersecurity and protecting digital infrastructure.
Department of Human Services – Criminal Justice – Emma Marie Dillon
Emma Marie Dillon of North East, Md., has distinguished herself in criminal justice with academic excellence and active classroom engagement. She will continue her studies in Forensic Chemistry at Towson University to pursue a career involving forensic evidence in crime labs.
Department of Arts & Visual Communications – Music – Mattson Richard Gaskill
Mattson Richard Gaskill of Elkton, Md., is recognized for his musical contributions on the tenor saxophone in community ensembles and college concerts. A key member of the Upper Chesapeake Community Band, he now looks forward to advancing his musical pursuits beyond graduation.
Department of Health Sciences – Physical Therapist Assistant – Harley Beth Grevera
Harley Beth Grevera of Upper Falls, Md., has demonstrated strong clinical skills, professionalism, and academic excellence in the PTA program at Cecil College. She plans to apply her expertise in a subacute rehabilitation setting, with a focus on the geriatric population.
Department of Math, Engineering and Physics – Math & Physics – Victoria Hallowell
Victoria Hallowell of Nottingham, Pa., is a standout dual-degree student in mathematics and physics who began college early and quickly proved her dedication through tutoring and peer support. She will pursue a bachelor’s degree in both fields, continuing her journey as a scholar and mentor.
Department of English and Humanities – English – Karoline Mackenzie Karlton
Karoline Mackenzie Karlton of Oxford, Pa., is celebrated for her insightful literary analysis and deep engagement with gender studies. Known for her thoughtful writing and commitment to academic excellence, she will continue her studies in English at Millersville University.
Department of Math, Engineering and Physics – Engineering – Caleb Edward Leffew
Caleb Edward Leffew of Colora, Md., has excelled in engineering through hands-on projects and perseverance, all while balancing retail work. He will advance his education at the University of Delaware, pursuing a degree in mechanical engineering.
Department of Health Sciences – Nursing – Heather Nicole Leffew
Heather Nicole Leffew of Elkton, Md., has demonstrated compassion, critical thinking, and clinical excellence throughout the nursing program. A member of Alpha Delta Nu, she embodies the values of the nursing profession and is well-prepared to make a positive impact in healthcare.
Department of Business – Marketing – Liam Macomber
Liam Macomber of Perryville, Md., has impressed faculty and peers with his academic excellence and determination, earning honors and the Donald M. Thomey Outstanding Student Award. He plans to enter the workforce and build a career in the financial industry.
Department of Human Sciences – Sports Management – Connor Devin McClintick
Connor Devin McClintick of Rising Sun, Md., has demonstrated a profound understanding of sports management and a passion for helping others succeed in athletics. He aims to turn this passion into a career supporting athletes, coaches, and teams.
Department of Human Services – Education – Delaney Helene Stanley
Delaney Helene Stanley of Elkton, Md., is an exceptional education major known for her attention to detail and inspiring work ethic. She will pursue a dual degree in elementary education at Towson University, equipping herself to make a meaningful and lasting impact on the lives of her future students.
Department of Human Services – Paralegal – Jonathan A. Sten
Jonathan A. Sten of Elkton, Md., has been recognized for his academic rigor and professional demeanor in paralegal studies. He plans to continue his journey toward law school at the University of Maryland College Park.
Department of Arts & Visual Communications – Art & Design – Angela Marie Teague
Angela Marie Teague of Colora, Md., is a standout artist whose creativity and academic strength have earned her accolades in the Art and Design program. With aspirations of teaching, exhibiting her work, and owning a business, she plans to pursue advanced degrees in art.
Department of Human Services – Social Work – Melitza Victoria-Escobar
Melitza Victoria-Escobar of Rising Sun, Md., embodies the heart of social work with her compassion, academic achievement, and commitment to service. She plans to continue her education toward a Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) and a Master of Social Work (MSW), with the goal of positively impacting child welfare and community well-being.
Department of Arts & Visual Communications – Visual Communications/Simulation Design & Gaming – Brooke Leanne Weatherington
