The amount of time varies by student. Many factors affect how long it will take to be ready to sit for the GED® examination.

How much does it cost for a GED®?

The total cost will vary for students. The initial GED® course costs $115.00 which includes 69 hours of instruction, a GED® book, and The GED Ready® practice exam. The GED® examination itself costs $57.00 to take all four subjects. You can schedule individual tests for $14.25 to $25.00 each.

If I fail one part of the GED® test, do I have to take the entire test over?

No. You only retake the part(s) you did not pass.

How do I sign up to take the GED®?

You enroll online at ged.com. Fee information can be found at www.dllr.maryland.gov/gedmd.

What are the GED Ready® practice tests?

They are the official GED® practice tests. They help verify that a student is ready for the actual GED® examination. These tests are administered the first Friday of every month at Elkton Station from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm and when necessary by appointment. There is a $20.00 fee for all four, or you can take tests individually for $5.00 each. Please call the GED® Office at (410) 287-1078 to register.

Is the GED® test hard? Is it easy?

That is a hard question to answer. For some students it would be easy, but for many students it would be a very hard test to pass all four subject areas.

Do colleges accept the GED®?

Yes. A few four year institutions might require a certain score higher than the minimum passing score.
