RISING SUN, Md. – The Rising Sun Chamber of Commerce continues to demonstrate its commitment to supporting higher education with two donations to the Cecil College Foundation, which will be used to provide scholarships for students in the business and healthcare programs.

One donation was more than $4,400 from proceeds the Chamber of Commerce raised by hosting the annual Rising Sun Health Fair, held at the Grace Bible Chapel, 1949 Biggs Highway in Rising Sun. This event provided health screenings, promoted regional healthcare resources, and encouraged healthy lifestyles. The Rising Sun Healthcare Scholarship supports students enrolled in healthcare related programs at Cecil College.

“There continues to be a need in the county to provide healthcare services, and Cecil College is working to meet those needs through programs like Nursing and Physical Therapist Assistant,” said Cecil College President Dr. Mary Way Bolt.

Cecil College offers health profession associate degrees in Exercise Sciences, Health Information Technology, Healthcare Sciences, Paramedic, Physical Therapist Assistant, and Public Health along with RN and LPN Nursing. There are also certificate programs for Personal Trainer/Fitness Manager, Practical Nursing and Public Health.

The second donation was in the amount of $2,000 that will be applied to the endowment of the Rising Sun Chamber of Commerce Scholarship, which supports students enrolled in one of the business programs at Cecil College.
