How do I enroll/register as a new student? (Admissions)

  • Complete the admissions application online.
  • If a student applies, they will receive an email with their acceptance letter attached and next steps in the process.
  • Request to virtually meet with an Admissions representative to go through enrollment process and ask questions about Cecil College.
  • Email SAT/ACT scores, high school and/or college transcripts to admissions@nullcecil.edu. Scores and transcripts are not a requirement for admission; however, students may receive credits or assessment exemptions after transcripts are evaluated.
  • Contact Admissions at (410) 287-1006, live chat on the home page of cecil.edu, or email admissions@nullcecil.edu.

How do I register for Summer/Fall 2021 courses? (Registration, Advising, Payment)

Registration for Summer/Fall 2021 credit courses begins April 1.

Registration for Summer/Fall 2021 Career and Community Education courses begins April 1.

Register

Registration refers to the process of enrolling in courses. Early registration is recommended to decrease the chances of exclusion from filled classes and to afford students the maximum benefit from academic advising. Students may take advantage of in-person, online, email, or telephone registration.

In-person office hours on the North East campus for Admissions, Advising, Cashier, Financial Aid, and Registration are as follows:

In addition, all offices are available to chat online or meet via Teams during regular office hours. Walk-ins are welcome, but appointments are encouraged. Students are asked to limit guests accompanying them to one, if possible.

Register Online
Go to the Registration tab at MyCecil to register for courses. Per the Registration tab, you can begin at "Steps to Register" and proceed to the "Add/Drop" portlet to generate the registration. You can also search courses by directly visiting www.cecil.edu/courses.The instructions for online registration can also be found in the Summer/Fall 2021 credit course schedule.
Register via Email
Use the registration@nullcecil.edu email address. Send us an email stating that you wish to register, and we will assist you accordingly.
Register via Phone
Call (410) 287-1600. Calls will be forwarded to the appropriate staff, and we will assist you accordingly.
Register via Appointment

Our staff is ready to assist you by phone or email Monday–Friday from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, or extended hours on Wednesdays, 8:00 am to 6:00 pm (or after regular office hours by appointment, if needed). If you need assistance, please call (410) 287-1600 and follow the prompts to speak with representatives from these departments. You can also chat online with an admissions counselor by visiting www.cecil.edu/admissions and clicking on the yellow "Chat with Admissions now!" button on the bottom right of your screen. We look forward to assisting you with your enrollment and advising needs.

Advising

All new students are required to register with an academic advisor for their first semester of enrollment. Students are encouraged to arrange for telephone advising/registration appointments. Please call (443) 287-1600 or email advising@nullcecil.edu to arrange an appointment. A registered student who has a disability which might impact accessibility and/or academics at Cecil College, and may require accommodations, can contact Coordinator of Disability & Support Services, Robyn Hunt, at rhunt@nullcecil.edu or (443) 674-1993.

Payment

Payment is required at the time of registration. Directions for online payment can be found at MyCecil via the Finance tab, or under "Make a Payment" per the Quick Links on the left side of the page under each tab.

In addition, you may contact the Cashier’s office for assistance at (410) 287-1020 (calls are being forwarded to appropriate staff).

Is my Summer/Fall course online? What are synchronous/asynchronous courses?

Cecil College’s Summer/Fall 2021 semesters will include in-person and online courses (asynchronous and synchronous), hybrid courses, and in-person labs and courses that require a "hands-on" component to facilitate an optimal educational experience.

For the most up-to-date course schedule, visit cecil.edu/courses or hover your mouse over Programs & Courses in the navigation bar at the top of any page on cecil.edu and choose Course Search from the Academics menu in the dropdown. To determine whether your course is designated as online (synchronous or asynchronous), on campus, or a hybrid, refer to the following key to learn the definition and symbol for each while choosing your courses.

ONC On Campus Classes that meet in-person at a regularly scheduled day and time.
OFF Off Campus Classes that meet at an off campus site at designated days and times. Examples include clinical experiences, equine courses, and courses offered at high schools. Students are responsible for their own transportation.
HYB Hybrid Classes that meet in-person periodically with some coursework offered online.
ONLIN/SYNCH Online/Synchronous Online classes that meet virtually and are scheduled on a regularly occurring day/time throughout the semester.
ONLIN/ASYNCH Online/Asynchronus Online classes with little or no designated meeting days/times. Assignments are completed independently with scheduled due dates.
HFX Hyflex Classes that meet at the same day/time throughout the semester with some students attending on campus and others attending synchronously online. Both are taught by the same faculty member. Students must pick the in-person or online option when they register for the course.

Can I complete my math and writing placement assessments online?

Yes. The math and writing placement assessments are available online. To learn more about the online assessments, please review the instructions for the math placement and the English placement. If you have any questions, please contact advising@nullcecil.edu.

What are the current Bookstore hours? (Bookstore)

Please call 410-287-5436 or email bookstore@nullcecil.edu for any questions. You can place orders on our website, cecil.bncollege.com, for in-store pickup or to be shipped to you. Please allow time for response due to Covid-19. For questions about financial aid, please contact the Cashier’s Office.

Library

As Cecil College holds classes online, the library continues to offer its services to all students remotely. Available services include:

  • Instructional Services – Get help with research, the online catalog, library databases, or citations for your paper. Our Instructional Librarian is available Monday through Friday, 8 am – 4:30 pm for all of your research and instruction needs! The Instructional Librarian can be reached by email at library@nullcecil.edu, or, if you would like to schedule a one-on-one or group Zoom meeting, please visit the Library page on MyCecil.
  • eBooks, Databases, Subject Guides, and Streaming Video – Available 24/7 to all Cecil College students remotely, please visit the Library tab on MyCecil for access links.
  • Contact Us – Librarians will be available Monday through Friday 8 am – 4:30 pm. You can reach the library through email at library@nullcecil.edu or through live chat! Live chat can be found via the Library tab on MyCecil. Chat is available during staffed hours only.

Writing Center

Cecil College’s Writing Center is available to support students with their reading, research, and writing in any subject. Tutors are available during the Writing Center’s regular operating hours. To learn more about the Writing Center’s services, students will need to join the Online Writing Lab (OWL) in Blackboard, free of charge. Engineering and Science

Tutors are available for various engineering and science classes via email and Zoom from your computer's web browser or Zoom's app for your iOS or Android device. Follow these steps to join a session:

  1. Create a free account at zoom.us using your computer or the app on your mobile device
  2. In the top right corner, click "Join a Meeting"
  3. Type in your tutor's Zoom ID (provided below) and join the meeting
  4. Chat with your tutor via video chat, messenger, screen sharing, or document sharing

How do I access academic accommodations / Disability and Support Services?

In order to join a tutoring session for Statistics via Google Hangouts, do the following:

  1. Login to your Cecil College "chawk" email account.
  2. From your inbox, you can easily access Google Hangouts in one of the following ways:
    • In the lower left, click the "Hangouts conversations" icon (looks like a chat bubble).
    • In the upper right, click the "Google apps" icon (looks like 9 dots), then scroll down and click on the Hangouts icon.
