Maryland Community College Promise Scholarship

Student Success with Less Debt!

The Maryland Community College Promise Scholarship is a last dollar scholarship that is available for students who enroll at a Maryland community college. Eligible students can receive up to $5,000 to cover any remaining tuition and mandatory fee expenses after Federal or State financial aid has been applied. Applicants must meet all eligibility requirements to qualify.

Who May Apply?

A Maryland high school graduate or GED recipient eligible for in-state tuition who is planning to enroll or is currently enrolled full-time or part-time ​​at a Maryland community college in:

  1. A credit-bearing vocational certificate/certificate/associate degree program
  2. A sequence of credit or non-credit courses that leads to licensure or certification
  3. A registered apprenticeship program

Submit either the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or, for students who are not eligible to complete a FAFSA, the MHEC OneApp. Upon receipt of confirmation that your FAFSA or OneApp was submitted, contact the Cecil College Financial Aid Office to discuss your next steps. Students with an interest in Healthcare Careers or Workforce Training must also complete the Promise Non-Credit Application that is available as part of the MHEC OneApp. Upon receipt of confirmation of submission, interested students should then contact the program coordinators listed on the respective webpages linked here.

Application Filing Deadline for Academic Year 2023–2024 is April 15, 2024

Application Filing Deadline for Academic Year 2024–2025 is April 15, 2025

Non-Credit programs are still eligible to apply for the 2023–2024 academic year while both credit and non-credit programs may apply for the 2024–2025 academic year.
